We are about to embark on a journey to learn all we can about the first 13 colonies. The early settlers had many trials and challenges to overcome as they began to settle here in America. To be successful at this journey, they understood the value of rules and strong leaders.
There are two seperate questions you need to consider as we proceed. Be sure to read your classmates responses as you add yours to the class discussion. Points will be given for your answer as well as the responses you make in the class discussion.
It is important that you answer and respond to both questions. This discussion will be on-going so check back frequently and voice your opinions!
What makes a good leader?

They would also guide you and tell you how to do things. but the most important thing is that they know a lot of things so that know what they are doing and how to help you. That is what I would like to see in a leader and what would make them a good one.

I think honesty makes a good leader because if you are not honest, then nobody would trust you. I know I wouldn't like a dishonest leader. I also think that braveness is mandatory to be a good leader. You should have many different qualities to be a good leader so if you want to be a good leader, you have to be brave and honest. Z.H.

A good leader has to follow rules themdselves. they have to be able to show respect to they teamates and not be rude at the same time. You also need to help them so you aren't kicked out of your position. Helping the members will also make them happier. Which, will result in good workers and money. So, you will be praised by a higher ruler, like the king or queen.

I agree with L.T. because you want your leader to have good teamwork skills and to be caring. If they didn't care about you and what they were doing everything would be a disaster. You need good teamwork skills as well because if you didn't then nobody in your group could get along and you might all just want to go separate ways and if you were working on a school project doing all this arguing and you do go separate you will all probably get a bad grade. I think that a good leader has to be honest and loyal because the leader has to take responsibility telling them he/she just mess-up the traveling route to they're destination. A leader should also be intelligent because the leader can try to figure out they're profit and get a sixteenth of what they would of got. If a leader isn't ready at any time, they could get under attack and not have anything to defend their self with. That is what a good leader should have. -N.A

Rules in school are important because you do not want running in the halls and screaming or gum everywhere. If there were no rules in the whole world there will be people stealing stuff. Rules are important because if there are no rules then people will not play fairly and it will be less fun. Like at camp Duncan we had to get in the box without using the door. If everyone just went through the door it would ruin the point of the game. If there are no rules people will get hurt or when you play a board game and you change the rules to make you win than it would be no fun for your apponant.
